This year Jill celebrates 40 years as an actress, presenter, producer, agent and executive.

After training at GSA Jill spent many years in the theatre before gaining national prominence in the 80s as the face of British Gas, a highly successful campaign that ran for several years. Jill also has numerous film and TV credits and had her own radio chat show in London.

Jill co-founded the Training And Performance Showcase (TAPS), the National scheme for finding, training and promoting new writers for film and television and was the executive director during its 18 years of operation. More than 1000 budding writers attended TAPS courses, some of whom have achieved national prominence. She was also a partner and director of the literary agency Culverhouse & James for 16 years.

  • BAFTA Cymru Council for 5 years
  • Skillset Industry Training Forum for 5 years

Jill is a member of BAFTA and Equity.

Charles (1)

Charles is best known as a situation comedy director and producer at the BBC.

Charles has worked on many, much-loved TV programmes, often in collaboration with David Croft OBE. He ran a successful course at The Actor’s Centre, helping stage actors to adapt their skills for the small screen. His writing talent proved invaluable during six years with Jill James at TAPS, assessing scripts and helping to produce an annual comedy writer’s training programme.

Charles has an MA in creative writing and is a member of BAFTA, the Writer’s Guild of Great Britain, Directors UK and Equity.


Sue (1)

Sue Thexton has enjoyed a broad, 20-year career spanning technology, broadcast and education.

Most recently Sue was Senior Vice President of Brightcove Inc., an online video platform serving broadcasters and media companies throughout Europe and Latin America. Previously she served as EMEA Vice President for Macromedia and Adobe, driving their software products (Photoshop, Flash, etc.) to significant, multi-million dollar businesses.

Sue was also the Managing Director of ITN Source, the video archive business of the global news organisation & building a digital asset management system and converting thousands of dusty film reels into digital assets for commercial license.

As a media and technology consultant, Sue’s extensive client list includes Redbee Media, BBC and Skillset. She has also held other positions including elected member of the BAFTA Council and chair of many committees, Trustee of Futurelab and visiting Professor at Middlesex University London.
